Softwarem Ltd started in 2024 out of frustration. We were running a photo booth business and a small IT consultancy, and every off-the-shelf tool we tried to run them with was either too simple to be useful or too complicated to actually adopt. Pricing pages had four tiers and a "contact sales" button; onboarding was a PDF; roadmap requests went into a black hole.
So we started building the replacements ourselves — the ones we'd actually want to pay for. Quotem is the first, Assetem is right behind it, and we have a short list of others lined up. The common thread: practical software that does one job properly, priced fairly, built in the open, and supported by the same people who write the code.
We're intentionally small. Every feature ships through someone who has to own the support ticket when it breaks. Every pricing page is one we'd be happy to see ourselves. We're not trying to IPO — we're trying to make a dent in the quiet operational pain that runs service businesses in the UK.
